This is a unique opportunity for everyone to pull together as one to stop something fixable.
One of the novel concepts in this campaign is that the public doesn't pay for stickers - we reckon that stickers freely given will reach MANY more people and the more messages people see the more chance there is that we'll prevent future tragedies.
Dogs Today is only a small independent publication and sadly we can't afford to keep funding printing the stickers all on our own. (We paid for the first 50,000.) When the fantastic PR company who is working Pro Bono (or Pro Bonio!) on this account managed to negotiate a deal with a VERY major supermarket chain we suddenly realised we needed to print another 100,000 stickers and to start the presses within 24 hours to hit the deadline. At that point we reached out via our Cold Wet Nose blog and Twitter and amazingly we raised the money in time from a mixture of charities , dog organisations and one doggie business. In chronological order the heroic offers came in from the Kennel Club, Dogs Trust, Mutley and Mog, RSPCA and the National Animal Welfare Trust. (We almost had Wood Green, too but they confirmed just moments after the new artwork was sent.)
We know there will have to be future reprints and we will again need to reach out for sponsorship and support. We'd also like to make a professional TV commercial if possible, maybe even get the sticker distributed via a national newspaper.
If you can help in any way - maybe you know a celebrity that can endorse or you can think of any other way of spreading this message - everyone can play their part.
If you would like to get involved - in any country around the world as this is a global problem and campaign - please email beverley@dogstodaymagazine.co.uk
